The Striking Hour
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱلْقَارِعَةُ﴿1﴾
THE STARTLING CALAMITY.
مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ﴿2﴾
What is the startling calamity?
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ﴿3﴾
How will you comprehend what the startling calamity is? --
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ﴿4﴾
A Day on which human beings would be like so many scattered moths,
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ﴿5﴾
The mountains like the tufts of carded wool.
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ﴿6﴾
Then he whose deeds shall weigh heavier in the scale
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ﴿7﴾
Will have a tranquil life;
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ﴿8﴾
But he whose deeds are lighter in the balance
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ﴿9﴾
Will have the Abyss for abode.
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ﴿10﴾
How will you comprehend what that is?
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ﴿11﴾
It is the scorching fire.
